What impressed me the most was a most tender experience. I was at the front desk when a Philippine couple came in and I briefly noticed the sister and she had a walker. The brother at the desk asked if I would be of assistance, and I was happy to assist. The sister looked like she may have suffered a stroke as her right leg dragged and her right arm had limited mobility. I took her to a change cubicle large enough for her walker, and began to help her dress.
She was so grateful, as I took of her sock she said, thank-you sister. I took her other sock off and she said, thank-you sister. I took off her brace and she said thank-you sister. With every motion of assistance she said humbly, thank-you sister. I was so touched. When she was dressed she said to me that she had suffered a brain aneurysm two years ago, and that this was her first time back to the temple in two years. She was overwhelmed with gratitude, and wept. I hugged her and reassured her of how well she was doing and wept with her.
Her example of gratitude impressed me, and I realized how much we take for granted. The small and simple things we do like brush our teeth, get dressed, and make ourselves something to eat are actions we just assume we will be able to do and she was thankful for the help of another.
I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for giving me this experience. The lady went to a session and again I happened to be at the changing room when she was finished and helped her change again. She expressed gratitude again with every motion, and did not take for granted of my efforts although small were great in her eyes. She said I can't thank-you enough. I too cannot thank my Father in Heaven enough for the blessing He gives me. For allowing me the very breath I breathe.
Later today my Hailey called and she was in a car accident. No one seriously injured and I am grateful to the Lord for watching over her. The accident could have been much worse, and although it is still a crisis...my heart is full of gratitude to know that my Heavenly Father is with my on my journey and to know that He knows each of us personally. If we seek Him, He will answer us, comfort us and guide us because He loves us.
