What I learned from a horse...

Yesterday I was traveling to Cardston to open a new store and the wind was fierce once I turned off the Highway. The wind was coming off the mountains and the snow blowing hard to create a white out. On the right I saw a field that had one horse just standing with its back to the force of the wind. Just standing there. Immovable. I thought of how adversity moves us, and our moods swirl around when we are in a crisis. We may question why or feel it is all to hard.

I think the horse teaches us exactly what we have heard from King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon,

"Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen."
- Mosiah 5:15

When all manner of adversity touches our lives, and it will come, we need to anchor ourselves to our Savior, Jesus Christ. We can not endure without Him. He provides comfort, guidance, wisdom and strength for us to face what is in front of us and endure it well. The Lord will increase our tolerance, faith and love for others as we are asked to go through the difficult often debilitating circumstances.
Hold on to family and allow others in to love you and help you through it.

Like the horse, turn your back on what is trying to push you over, and knock you down. And when you feel like you can't do it anymore, remember your Savior, Jesus Christ knows you, loves you, and has willingly endured what you have gone through so He may know how to comfort and "succor" you. Show faith and follow the Savior, and ask for Him to help you. This is the pattern to endure well.

I am grateful for the Savior, Jesus Christ, who has always been there when I reach out, and picked me up when I couldn't reach out at all. He is the great Redeemer and I know He wants to help us be happy, and make it!

Romans 8:16
"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."

We are children of a loving Heavenly Father, and He is with us, always.
